The portrait of the crown prince of Jordan Hussein bin Abdullah together with princess Rajwa, whom he married, were added onto the fuselage of this Boeing 737-300 of Jordan Aviation in June.
This ERJ-190 flew since delivery in the colours of low-cost daughter Buta Airways, but recently it received standard colours of Azerbaijan Airlines and so operates also to Antalya.
For me probably the most precious regular visitor to Antalya is this CRJ-900 of Egyptian airline Petroleum Air Services. While last year I missed it literally by a few minutes before coming to the spot, this time I managed to catch it.
With southerly winds landings at Antalya are usually on both runways without any fixed concept, which presents a big headache for spotters. In this case, when I lost already any hope stuck in a traffic jam at traffic lights, a go-around helped to give me a second chance to photograph the B.737-900 of Fly Baghdad.
Few years ago Antalya was one of the few airports in Europe, where it was possible to photograph the Airbus A340-500 of Azerbaijan Airlines, today this carrier operates mainly small aircraft types, including the latest A320neo.
Boeing 737-900, which previously operated for Ukraine International Airlines and at the beginning also for local Sky Airlines, expanded recently the fleet of new Turkish airline Mavi Gök Airlines, which has been created in 2022 by the owner of tour operator Anex Tour.
The fleet of Southwind Airlines slowly grows and contains a colourful mix of different aircraft types usually in 1-2 pieces. The biggest type is Boeing 777-300, which currently operates almost exclusively from between Antalya and Düsseldorf.
Not only European holiday-makers fly to Antalya, but also many aircraft from the Middle East, most of them unfortunately during the midday hours, when the sun is very high and especially with southerly winds sometimes also clouds develop. But the retro livery of Royal Jordanian Airlines pleased me anyway.
