Wizz Air to open base at Podgorica

Wizz Air continues to deploy its capacity from the Persian Gulf to Eastern Europe. Opening of its first base in Montenegro has been announced this October. The base at Podgorica Airport will open with the start of the summer 2026 flight schedule.

Destinations Wizz Air will offer direct flights from Podgorica? Barcelona, ​​EuroAirport, Gdańsk, Hamburg, Karlsruhe Baden-Baden, Cologne/Bonn, Ljubljana, Maastricht, Malmö, Paris (Beauvais), Poznań, Rzeszow, Rome (Fiumicino), Vilnius and Wrocław.

Where does Wizz Air fly from Podgorica in the current summer schedule? Budapest, Dortmund, London (Gatwick), Memmingen, Milan (Malpensa) and Vienna. A total of six destinations.

Wizz Air is also affected by chronic problems with the Pratt & Whitney PW1000G engines that power its Airbus A320neo aircraft. As of October 23, 2025, the fleet has a total of 171 of them. There are 37 grounded due to engine problems. They are also parked in Ostrava, and are only slowly returning to service.

The carrier will soon take delivery of its 250th aircraft. Last month, it announced a public competition for the design of the aircraft. Out of 300 proposals, the company selected the winning design by author Balázs Hauser. For the winning design, he will receive a travel credit of EUR 1,000 for flights on the airline's network. The aircraft in special colors will be included in the Wizz Air fleet in November.
