  • The North American P-51D Mustang "Marinell" was shipped to Britain on D-Day, June 6, 1944. "Marinell" went on to achieve four confirmed victories in combat before being downed on August 13, 1944, during a dive-bombing mission over Feuquières, France, tragically resulting in the loss of her pilot. In July 2008, "Marinell" flew again for the first time in almost 64 years. "Marinell" is now based at Duxford Airfield.

  • Not necessarily the best airshow that I've attended but certainly the most memorable, was the Russian Air Force 100th Anniversary Show at Zhukovsky during August 2012. One of those memories was the only time that I've seen the mighty Antonov AN-22 'Cock' in the air. Equally memorable was the fantastic noise produced by its contra-rotating props.
