Direct flights to Philadelphia to return in late May 2027

On Sunday, October 4, the final flight of the scheduled service AA285 from Prague to Philadelphia took place. American Airlines had resumed this route after a seven-year hiatus. It is a seasonal service, which the carrier operated using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.

The route will return next spring. Tickets are already on sale. The first flight is scheduled for May 28, 2027 — one week later than this year, when the inaugural flight took place on May 22.

Philadelphia Airport serves as one of American Airlines' key hubs. A connection to Prague existed for two years prior to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. During that period, the airline deployed Boeing 767s for one year and Airbus A330-200s the following year; both aircraft types were subsequently retired from the fleet during the pandemic.

Delta Air Lines (to New York, JFK) and Air Canada (to Toronto) also operate seasonal scheduled flights from Prague to North America.

In May, coinciding with the launch of the Philadelphia route, Minister of Finance Alena Schillerová commented on the subject of new air connections: „Our current priority is to secure direct links to destinations such as Shanghai or Delhi. Long-haul routes are a key priority that the Ministry of Finance—in its capacity as the sole shareholder of Prague Airport—will pursue under my leadership.“
