Delayed Deliveries of New 737s for Smartwings

  • 2024-04-02 08:09

Smartwings, the largest Czech air carrier, will not take delivery of the ordered Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on schedule. This year, the airline planned to add a quartet of 4th generation Boeing 737 aircraft to its fleet. One in January, one in February, and two in April. The January aircraft, registration OK-SWI (serial number 66343, year of manufacture 2023), was delivered on time. However, the February aircraft has not yet arrived.

The planespotters.net server has been monitoring the production of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft for an extended period. However, none of the three aircraft that Smartwings is scheduled to receive this year are listed in the production list. Therefore, delays in the delivery of the two aircraft expected this month can be anticipated.

Smartwings currently operates 23 B737-800 aircraft, two each of B737-700 and B737-900ER, and ten B737 MAX 8 aircraft. Additionally, three B737-800 aircraft are operated by its subsidiary companies in Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia.
