The Taiwanese STARLUX Airlines has chosen a direct route between Prague and Taipei as its first connection to Europe. The new route will be operated from August 1st this year, initially with a frequency of three times a week. From October, the number of frequencies will increase to a total of four flights per week. The carrier will use the Airbus A350-900 in a four-class configuration for the flights.
“We are pleased to welcome a new carrier, STARLUX Airlines, to our airport, for which Prague is also the first European destination to which it will fly regularly. We greatly value this new partnership and are convinced that the new regular route will contribute to the further development of tourism between the Czech Republic and Taiwan. According to our assumptions, the new route could be used by over 95 thousand passengers in both directions during the first year of operation,” says Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prague Airport.
The Taiwanese carrier STARLUX Airlines will deploy an Airbus A350-900 aircraft on the new long-haul route with four comfort classes: First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy. The total capacity of the aircraft is 306 seats. The route will be available to passengers from August 1st three times a week, departing from Prague on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. From October, the number of weekly frequencies will increase to a total of four, when a Monday departure is added.
Flight JX101 will depart Taipei at 0:10 local time, landing in Prague at 7:50. After check-in, the aircraft will depart at 10:20 as flight JX102, landing in Taipei is scheduled for 05:10 local time.
In addition to the direct flight between Prague and Taipei, passengers will also be able to use the STARLUX Airlines network of flights to connect further to Asia, such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Tokyo, Singapore, Osaka, Hong Kong and many others.
“We are pleased to announce the operation of the new route to Prague as the first ever European destination of STARLUX Airlines. This significant step is the result of extensive preparations and strong support from our partners. We would like to sincerely thank Prague Airport for their cooperation,” says Glenn Chai, CEO of STARLUX Airlines. “Prague has long been a popular destination for many Taiwanese tourists, and we expect the growing ties in the semiconductor industry to further strengthen the demand for air connections between Taiwan and the Czech Republic. Taiwan is also a natural transportation hub. Thanks to our extensive network of air connections, we offer passengers connecting flights to other Asian metropolises. Our fleet of new-generation Airbus aircraft will then ensure a premium travel experience for passengers,” adds Glenn Chai.
The five-star airline STARLUX Airlines began operations in 2020, making it one of the youngest airlines in Asia. It offers a unique experience and first-class service at standard ticket prices. It is based not only on the very high quality of in-flight services, but also on exceptional customer experiences, both on board and on the ground. The design of the Airbus A350 cabin, including seats, comes from BMW Designworks, drawing on the design heritage of the famous automaker. The rich on-board catering is inspired by several Michelin-starred restaurants and the company uses a number of famous food brands from several regions of the world to prepare it.
In addition to Economy Class, STARLUX Airlines will also offer the increasingly popular Premium Economy Class on the route between Prague and Taipei with more spacious seats, significantly more legroom and richer catering. Business Class will offer lockable private cabins and a seat that can be fully adjusted to a horizontal bed. The most luxurious First Class with only four seats is a separate chapter. The airline also provides generous limits for the transport of checked baggage within Economy Class – specifically two pieces, each weighing 23 kilograms. Each seat on the aircraft is equipped with its own monitor with an entertainment system, including a selection of attractive films and series from HBO MAX.
Ticket sales will begin soon, primarily on the airline's website www.starlux-airlines.com and subsequently also through selected travel agencies.
