The Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air is apparently convinced that the number of new routes it has announced to open from Bratislava is still not enough.
First, it is worth recalling where Wizz Air currently flies from Bratislava: Alicante, Athens, Barcelona, Bucharest, EuroAirport, Yerevan, Chisinau, Košice, Kutaisi, Lamezia Terme, Larnaca, London (Luton), Málaga, Naples, Nis, Oslo (Gardermoen), Palermo, Plovdiv, Skopje, Varna. Twenty destinations.
It has now started selling tickets from Bratislava to Nice on the French Riviera. From March 31, it will offer three flights a week, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The Airbus A320s on route W6 7051/2 will depart Bratislava at 19:50 and, after a stay in Nice from 21:45 to 22:20, they will return five minutes after midnight.
This April, Wizz Air is to fly from Bratislava to thirty destinations. These are Alicante, Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Bucharest, Dortmund, EuroAirport, Yerevan, Chisinau, Košice, Kutaisi, Lamezia Terme, Larnaca, London (Luton), Malaga, Naples, Nice, Nis, Ohrid, Oslo (Gardermoen), Palermo, Plovdiv, Pristina, Rome (Fiumicino), Skopje, Tel Aviv, Tirana, Tuzla, Varna, Warsaw (Chopin). The remaining new routes will open in March. Below is the schedule, always including the name of the destination and the date of the inaugural Wizz Air flight:
Berlin (16.03.), Rome (Fiumicino, 16.03.), Tirana (16.03.), Dortmund (17.03.), Ohrid (17.03.), Tel Aviv (17.03.), Pristina (17.03.), Tuzla (29.03.), Warsaw (29.03.), Nice (31.03.)
The Hungarian carrier announced its intention to establish a base with two Airbus A320 aircraft at Bratislava airport last summer. In the fall, it increased the intended number of based aircraft to four. At the same time, it won the tender for the operation of the domestic route Bratislava - Košice and Slovakia has become a favorite. One of the factors is the complete absence of a tax on airline tickets, which in neighboring Austria is about CZK 300 per passenger. The Slovaks have also reduced air traffic control fees by 50%.
M. R. Štefánik Airport was used by 2,212,317 passengers in 2025 (January to November). This is an increase of 21% compared to 2024.
