This Spitfire is one of 54 aircraft that arrived at Prague's Ruzyně Airport 80 years ago on August 13, 1945. The aircraft was piloted from England by Sqn Ldr Otmar Kučera, DFC, who brought a formation of 15 Spitfire No. 313 SQN RAF aircraft to Ruzyně. The pilots took off from Manston, UK, on August 7, but due to bad weather, they had to wait until August 13 after a stopover in Germany. All aircraft that arrived in Prague were Spitfire LF Mk.IXe models with shortened wings; at the time the photo was taken, this aircraft had classic wings.
