A unique airborne platform research prototype with vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), one vertically mounted RD-9BP engine, stabilization by four jets with compressed air, situated at the ends of the metal rods; pilot sitting in the covered cockpit. The first flight took place in 1956 (test pilot Yuri Garnayev), flight tests were conducted until 1959.
