Cyprus Airways to commence flights from Larnaca to Prague starting in July

Charlie Airlines, the carrier awarded by the Cypriot government the rights to the Cyprus Airways brand for a decade starting 2016, is set to reintroduce direct flights between Prague and Cyprus this summer. Their Airbus A220s will touch down at Prague Airport from Larnaca in Cyprus thrice weekly, every Monday, Friday, and Saturday. Operating under flight designation CY 260/1, the service will run from July 1st until October 25th.

In the summer of 2016, the Cypriot government sold the rights to utilize the Cyprus Airways brand, logo, and trademark for ten years to Charlie Airlines for over two million euros. The ownership of Charlie Airlines was split between 60 percent by Cypriot investors and 40 percent by the Russian company S7 Holding. Initially, the Russians provided the airline with two Airbus A319s, which have since been decommissioned. In April 2021, the Russian minority shareholders offered their 36.875% stake in Cyprus Airways for sale, which was subsequently acquired by the Maltese group SJC, now the airline's owner. Presently, the carrier operates two Airbus A220-300s and two Airbus A320ceos.
