Back to the good old days at London-Gatwick during the summer of 1985, with a line up of British Caledonian DC-10s awaiting their morning departures. In the foreground is G-BHDI that was named 'Robert the Bruce - The Scottish Warrior'. Scan from a negative taken using a Pentax ME Super fitted with a Tamron 80-210 manual focus lens.
Scan from one of my negatives taken using a Pentax ME Super fitted with a Tamron 80-210 manual focus lens. Exact date not recorded but sometime during the spring of 1985.
Ilyushin IL-62 OK-GBH of CSA is just lifting its nose wheel on rotation from 28L (as it was then) at London-Heathrow. Many people in the West incorrectly referred to the IL-62 as a 'VC10 Copy' but apart from the configuration, there is actually little commonality between the two designs.
Powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4 turbofans, Boeing 757-224 N19130 of Continental Airlines is captured during an early morning easterly arrival into London-Gatwick on 9th June 2006.
Airbus A330-302 A7-AEG of Qatar Airways wearing its Asian Games special scheme arrives into Manchester Airport during the late afternoon of 30th June 2006.
An early morning arrival into Manchester Airport on 30th June 2006, sees Boeing 757-2T7 G-DAJB being prepared for its next flight on the adjacent stand.
A nostalgic and scenic view of London-Gatwick airport during an early morning departure on 30th June 2006, with Airbus A340-311 V5-NME taking centre stage whilst on tow.
Air New Zealand's Airbus A320-232 ZK-OAB wearing the airline's very smart 'All Blacks' scheme, departs Queenstown Airport with its wonderful backdrop and in fantastic early evening light.
Perhaps the best retro scheme ever, the iconic BOAC Gold Speedbird liveried 747 to mark the 100th Anniversary of the forerunners of British Airways. BA Boeing 747-436 G-BYGC is being prepared for a flight on 22nd August 2019. This shot was taken from sister ship G-BYGD on its was to New York. I had of course hoped I may travel on the retro jet but at least I got a photo of it in its natural environment. Sadly, both have now been scrapped with some even suggesting that in view of the current shortage of long-haul airliners, BA should have kept it's younger G-BYG- 747's for a little while longer.
